“Haiti is still trying to recover from the 2010 earthquake. More than 1.5 million individuals were internally displaced, their homes destroyed or badly damaged. The Haitian government remains weak and has been unable to provide basic services.
The Dominican deportation program will sever an important lifeline to many Haitian agricultural workers who send remittances home to support their families. I urge the Dominican government to revisit this policy and help address the ongoing crisis in Haiti.”
